The goal: to build a shared foundation of climate knowledge, strategy, and inspiration — and to connect that foundation directly to the work you are already doing.

The ambition:
to leave this morning having moved from information to feeling to conviction — not just knowing more about the climate crisis, but feeling more equipped and more held to act on it.

How it works: four curated segments from the EcoActUs Climate Boot Camp, woven with four facilitator-led activities designed specifically for this room.

Four segments that will move us through the integration of climate science, strategic frameworks, social systems, transformation theory,   and the beauty of the living world.

Ken Berlin — CEO (Retired), The Climate Reality Project
Nina Simons — Co-Founder & Chief Relationship Officer, Bioneers
Will Linn — Founder, Mythouse; General Education Dept. Chair, Hussian College
Louie Schwartzberg — Award-winning cinematographer, director, and producer

Introducing the Situation

Ken Berlin — CEO (Retired), Climate Reality Project
Source footage: 47:42 – 1:02:33 | 15 min

Berlin lays out the scale and stakes of the climate crisis in unsparing terms — the science, the timeline, and the systemic actions required to build a sustainable and socially just world. He gives fellows a shared vocabulary before the strategic and applied work that follows.

Activity 1: Personal Climate Reckoning

"Berlin described the crisis as driven by explosive demand and a broken system. Where in your life, community, or faith context have you felt the weight of that system?"

"What aspect of the climate crisis has personally impacted you — or someone you love?"

"Is there a moment when the crisis stopped feeling abstract and became real for you? What made it real?"

"Berlin named urgency and justice together. Which of those feels more present in your work right now?"

Bioneers: From Othering to Belonging

Nina Simons — Co-Founder & Chief Relationship Officer, Bioneers
Source footage: 39:18 – 1:04:38 | 25 min

Simons connects the climate crisis to colonialism, gender violence, and what she calls the myth of separation — the Buddhist teaching she names as humanity's deepest wound. She introduces trauma-informed climate work, three pillars of pro-social leadership (cultural humility, discomfort resilience, fierce compassion), and Indigenous teachings on right relationship. She closes by naming women's leadership as one of Project Drawdown's top three climate solutions — making this segment a direct mirror of the Faith in Her cohort's own work.

Activity 2: From Separation to Relationship

Solo reflection (written, 3 min)

"Simons named the myth of separation as the wound underneath the climate crisis. Where do you see that myth operating in your own context — your institution, your community, your tradition? What does it cost?"

Pair conversation (10 min)

"Share one moment — from your faith community, your organisation, or your own inner life — where you felt the opposite of separation. What made belonging possible there?"

Small group prompts (12 min, groups of 3–4)

"Simons offered three qualities of pro-social leadership: cultural humility, discomfort resilience, fierce compassion. Which feels most alive in your work? Which feels hardest?"

"She named women's leadership as one of Project Drawdown's top three climate solutions. What would that actually require of the institutions and systems you work within?"

Whole-room harvest (5 min)

"Share one sentence from each group — not a summary, just one live thread."

The Transformational Journey

Will Linn — Founder, Mythouse; General Education Dept. Chair, Hussian College
Source footage: 0:30:34 – 0:43:48 | 15 min

Linn draws on mythology, narrative theory, and educational design to map the psychological stages people and organisations travel through when their thoughts and attitudes genuinely shift. His framework is especially relevant for fellows working inside faith communities and institutional spaces where change unfolds slowly — through narrative as much as argument.

Activity 3: Mapping Your Journey

Individual mapping prompts (written, 5 min)

"Think of one change you are trying to bring about — in yourself, your organisation, your community, or your tradition. Using Linn's stages as a loose guide: where are the people you are working with right now? Where are you?"

"What is the story — the narrative — keeping things where they are?

Small-group sharing prompts (8 min)

"What does transformation look like inside a faith institution specifically — where authority, scripture, and tradition shape what change is even allowed to mean?"

"Who in your life has moved through a genuine transformation on a climate or justice issue? What shifted for them?"

Nature, Beauty, and Gratitude

Louie Schwartzberg — Award-winning cinematographer, director, and producer
Source footage: 0:55:10 – 1:18:46 | 25 min

Through time-lapse footage, macro photography, and patient observation of the natural world, Schwartzberg reconnects fellows to the living systems at the heart of their climate work. This is not analysis — it is a reminder. Beauty is the reason.

Activity 4: Closing Circle

Grounding (1 min)

"Stay with what you just witnessed. Breathe. Before we name anything, let's just be with it for a moment."

Popcorn-style open floor — no hands, no order, just voices as they arise (9 min)

"What image, moment, or word from that film is still with you right now?"

"Schwartzberg's work is an act of witness — paying deep attention to what is beautiful. Where in your own climate leadership are you called to bear witness?"

"What is the living thing — the place, the species, the person, the community — that most grounds your sense of why this work matters?"
